I can think of no other Pastor’s wife that deserves a set of pearls more than Darlene Perry. Darlene is a nurse. She works a full time schedule so our pastor can be available 24/7 for our little church. Because of her work, she has to miss many services at church. Our church is so small we can't pay our pastor enough to meet all his families needs so our pastor’s wife supplements their income. I have been to many churches and she is the most loving pastor's wife I have ever met. She is a woman of prayer and prays for us. She also prays for the people she meets in the hospital she works in. She always has a positive word to say to everyone she meets. When we first started at the church, we said we did not believe we were ready to leave our old church. She told us “You can say what you want I just know you are suppose to be here with us.” That was 4 years ago. On some of the days she has off, she even goes visiting people with pastor. She helps with fund raisers and helps cook for church dinners. She tries very hard to get time off to come to all the events at our church and being a nurse that is not always possible. She dreams of a day she does not have to work so she can devote more time to our church.
Our pastor goes on four weeks of hunting vacation (which he desperately needs) every year without her. I have never heard her complain about these trips. She is very supportive to everyone. We call her “first Lady” and truly she is!
